INDIANAPOLIS — Two leaders from the Food Safety and Inspection Service toured Old Major Market and Turchetti’s Meats to see Indiana ag in action.
Deputy Administrator Robert Bane and Deputy Assistant Administrator Robert Witte enjoyed the tour hosted by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, Indiana State Board of Animal Health, Indiana Farm Bureau and Indiana Meat Packers and Processors Association.
The companies, both in Indianapolis, discussed their business models and future plans with the U.S. Department of Agriculture leaders. They also highlighted Indiana’s commitment to align with food safety standards.
FSIS oversees the inspection of meat, poultry and eggs to ensure that food is safe for human consumption.
