BREESE, Ill. — The Illinois Grazing Lands Coalition has released a new “How-To” Video Series designed to give livestock producers quick, practical tools to improve grazing systems and pasture management.
The videos are free to access and available now on the ILGLC YouTube Channel, as well as the Grazing and Forage Hub at www.grazingforage.com.
The series provides step-by-step demonstrations of core grazing practices, with topics that include:
• How to set up temporary paddocks with polywire.
• What manure and plant residual reveal about your grazing.
• Calculating paddock size and stocking rate for adaptive systems.
• Checking cattle body condition and temperament before moves.
• How to use a refractometer and Brix measurements.
• How to build an H-brace for pasture fences.
“These short videos are designed to answer practical questions and give graziers the confidence to try new tools and approaches on their own farms,” said Logan Karcher, ILGLC director of producer programs.
“With these new resources, producers will be equipped with the knowledge needed to improve their grazing operations and positively impact their land.”
The “How-To” Video Series is part of ILGLC’s ongoing mission to expand regenerative grazing in Illinois through education, peer-to-peer learning and accessible resources.
By combining expert insights with real-world demonstrations, the videos show how grazing can improve soil health, animal performance and farm profitability.
Illinois livestock producers of all experience levels are encouraged to explore the series and share the videos with others who may benefit.
For additional assistance, producers can also submit specific requests through the hub’s online help center at https://grazingforage.com/help.
The Illinois Grazing and Forage Hub is a multi-stakeholder partnership between the ILGLC, the Illinois Forage and Grassland Council, University of Illinois Extension and the Illinois Natural Resources Conservation Service.
