JEFFERSONVILLE, Ohio — James Jacobs, sales manager, announced the winners of Seed Genetics Direct’s 2026 Wheat Yield Contest.
• First place — credit on $2,500 of seed from Seed Genetics Direct and $2,500 of herbicides and fungicides from Herbicides Direct: Delmar Weiler, of East Earl, Pennsylvania, with AGI 244B, yielding 141.1 bushels per acre.
• Second place — credit on $1,500 of seed from Seed Genetics Direct and $1,500 of herbicides and fungicides from Herbicides Direct: N.S. Farm Services, Nathan and Steve Birkemeier, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, with AGI 114, yielding 128.4 bushels per acre and a test weight of 57 pounds per acre.
• Third place — credit on $1,000 of seed from Seed Genetics Direct and $1,000 of herbicides and fungicides from Herbicides Direct: Randy Leib, of Prospect, Ohio, with AGI 310B, yielding 124.9 bushels per acre and a test weight of 60.9 pounds per acre.
Jacobs said entries averaged 119.1 bushels per acre, with an average test weight of 58.1 pounds per acre.
“Seed Genetics Direct is proud to carry the AGI brand which gives us access to the top wheat-breeding programs and their top-yielding wheat varieties,” he said.
“SGD’s wheat sales increased approximately 85% last year and with our continued performance and industry changes we anticipate a 100% increase in fall 2026 wheat sales.”
