KENDALLVILLE, Ind. — Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch broke ground on a new egg processing plant in Kendallville in northeast Indiana.

The 75,000-square-foot facility on Weston Avenue will create 60 jobs and result in a more than $20 million economic investment in the community.

Herbruck’s is a fourth-generation family business headquartered in Michigan, where it is the largest egg producer in the state.

The company supplies billions of farm-fresh eggs to retailers and food service outlets across the country.

“Herbruck’s is driven by our values, which include treating our hens, environment, families and communities with respect while supplying customers with high-quality, nutritious eggs,” said Cody Herbruck, associate vice president of processing.

“We are truly looking forward to being part of the Kendallville community and would like to thank local and state leaders who have supported this project.”

The plant will process about 420 million local, farm-fresh eggs annually.

“I’m proud to welcome Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch to Kendallville,” said Kendallville Mayor Lance Waters. “The addition of an egg processing plant will have a positive impact on our community through investment, job creation and community involvement.

“New businesses and companies choosing to plant roots in Kendallville helps grow our local economy, provides good-paying jobs and supports services our residents rely on.”

Herbruck’s received Economic Development for a Growing Economy tax credits from the state of Indiana for the project due to its creation of jobs.

Herbruck’s is hiring at the facility and planning to begin processing eggs there in the spring. Information about available jobs can be found at www.herbrucks.com.
