There were 5.3 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois for the week ending July 12, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 2% very short, 8% short, 73% adequate, and 17% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 3% very short, 9% short, 73% adequate, and 15% surplus.

Corn silking reached 40%, compared to 42% last year, and the five-year average of 45%. Corn dough reached 6%, compared to 5% last year, and the five-year average of 4%. Corn condition was rated 4% very poor, 10% poor, 28% fair, 43% good, and 15% excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 47%, compared to 51% last year, and the five-year average of 48%. Soybeans setting pods reached 19%, compared to 11% last year, and the five-year average of 12%. Soybean condition was rated 4% very poor, 10% poor, 30% fair, 44% good, and 12% excellent.

Winter wheat harvested reached 88%, compared to 92% last year, and the five-year average of 93%.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 27% fair, 46% good, and 19% excellent.
