Illinois crop progress for week ending June 28

There were 2.7 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois for the week ending June 28, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 2% very short, 5% short, 54% adequate, and 39% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 4% very short, 8% short, 62% adequate, and 26% surplus.

Corn silking reached 8%, compared to 8% last year, and the five-year average of 5%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 29% fair, 47% good, and 13% excellent.

Soybeans emerged reached 95%, compared to 93% last year, and the five-year average of 95%. Soybeans blooming reached 17%, compared to 18% last year, and the five-year average of 13%. Soybeans setting pods reached 3%. Soybean condition was rated 3% very poor, 9% poor, 33% fair, 43% good, and 12% excellent.

Winter wheat harvested reached 64%, compared to 62% last year, and the five-year average of 69%. Winter wheat condition was rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 19% fair, 59% good, and 16% excellent.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 2% very poor, 5% poor, 28% fair, 46% good, and 19% excellent.
