Illinois crop progress for the week ending April 13

Statewide, the average temperature was 46.1 degrees, 3.2 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.23 inches, 0.72 inches below normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1% very short, 10% short, 69% adequate, and 20% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1% very short, 27% short, 55% adequate, and 17% surplus.

Corn planted reached 1%, compared to 3% last year, and the five-year average of 4%. Soybeans planted reached 2%, compared to 4% last year, and the five-year average of 2%. Winter wheat headed reached 1%, compared to 5% last year, and the five-year average of 3%. Winter wheat condition was rated 1% poor, 33% fair, 57% good, and 9% excellent.
