From the Fields: Spared from brunt of major storm damage

We have had too much rain, but I will also tell you I am feeling pretty blessed compared to what others have had.

A simple example is last week I had seven-tenths of an inch of rain in my rain gauge and my dad, one mile down the road, had 2.4 inches in his rain gauge. His neighbor, another three-quarters of a mile south of him, had 3.1 inches in his gauge.

I talked to person that lives another mile south and he had 3.6 inches of rain. That storm was a narrow band and straight east of us in Bradford, they had 4.1 inches of rain in about one and a half hours.

That’s the way these rains have been all year. Some destructive stuff has gone through and we have been really lucky that it was north or south of us.
