IFB accepting grant applications

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Farm Bureau is accepting applications for its 2026-2027 Rural Development Grant Program, offering $120,000 to support projects that strengthen rural Illinois communities.

Applications are open through Dec. 1. Grant recipients will be announced by Feb. 28.

“Illinois Farm Bureau members understand the challenges facing rural communities, but they also recognize the opportunities for growth,” said Ryan Tate, IFB associate director of local government.

“These grants help turn local ideas into action, giving communities the resources to address challenges, create opportunities and invest in their future.”

Now in its fourth year, the program helps rural communities turn local ideas into meaningful improvements through investments in economic development, infrastructure, emergency services and other community initiatives.

Since its launch, IFB awarded $250,000 in funding with plans to invest another $100,000, along with a $20,000 investment from COUNTRY Financial.

“For many years COUNTRY Financial has supported community-facing programs executed by Illinois Farm Bureau,” said Sarah Franzen, COUNTRY Financial senior corporate social responsibility specialist.

“We were drawn to the Rural Development Grant Program because of its ability to bring communities together around projects that make a meaningful, lasting impact.

“For a second year, we are proud to support because thriving communities are built through partnership and shared purpose. Together, we are helping create opportunities that strengthen rural Illinois and enrich the lives of those who call it home.”

Previous grants have supported emergency service providers, community development projects, food access cooperatives, healthcare and local infrastructure improvements.

For the 2026-2027 program, IFB will designate approximately 20% of available funding for emergency services.

Interested organizations should contact their county Farm Bureau office for details on how to apply.
