Illinois Wheat Development Board to elect new members

The farmer-funded Illinois Wheat Development Board aims to enhance wheat production, develop new markets and boost demand for wheat products.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Agriculture announced an election will be held on Oct. 28 for two board members in Illinois Wheat Development Board Districts 3 and 6, as well as one statewide at-large board member.

No formal petitions were filed for these vacant board positions, so Illinois producers of wheat residing in these districts may participate in the election as a write-in candidate.

Producers must be of legal voting age, reside in the district for which they are running and be a qualified producer of wheat. At-large write-in candidates may reside in any of the IWDB districts.

Absentee ballots are available to those not available to vote in person by contacting the IDOA at 217-524-1083 or agr.marketnews.illinois.gov.

In-person voting will take place at the county Farm Bureau offices in Illinois during normal business hours.

For more information, call IDOA at 217-524-1083 or the Illinois Wheat Association at 309-557-3619.
