From the Fields: Saying prayer for flood victims

The fields are progressing well. We have been drier than a lot of areas recently and could use a little more appropriate amounts of rain to keep things progressing and minimize stress while trying to fill kernels and beans out in this vital part of the season.

With all of the heavy rains shortly after planting and having multiple heavy rains early after emergence, we have had some increased weed pressures from the wet conditions. The weed pressures were most obvious in a few places that were washed out and stayed persistently wet and so those skips or gaps have filled with significant weed pressure there. We have not been directly impacted by the flooding recently.

My husband’s family farm in Fayette County was within a mile of some of the significant flooding but thankfully was spared due to being a little higher ground. We are so thankful that we were not impacted directly and continue to pray for those that were.
