Livingston County SWCD will host Women in Ag meeting to discuss leasing, succession

Join the Livingston County Soil and Water Conservation District for a Toolshed Talk to learn about how conservation practices can be beneficial for the farm. Hear how other local farmers are making conservation work for them.

PONTIAC, Ill. — The Livingston County Soil and Water Conservation District will host a Women in Ag meeting on Sept. 9 with a focus on leasing and succession planning.

“Connection to the Land: A Discussion of Leasing and Succession Planning” will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Livingston County Farm Bureau, 901 W. Howard St. in Pontiac. Lunch will be provided, and attendance is free of charge.

The featured speaker will be Mary Ludwig, a local attorney who specializes in agricultural law and estate planning.

Ludwig grew up farming her family’s land in Vermilion County with her brother following the deaths of their parents. She now farms with her husband in Livingston County.

Ludwig regularly speaks at conferences and meetings and works with Annie’s Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational programs for women involved in agriculture.
