Affordable, reliable health care: Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans provide Hoosiers with insurance options

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A small family business saved $60,000 annually by switching to Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans.

Amber Haan and her family own a plumbing business in Tippecanoe County.

When looking for health insurance for their six employees, they switched to INFB Health Plans to save money.

“The previous plans were very high cost and didn’t provide much coverage,” Haan said. “We are now saving about $60,000 a year.

“We cover 75% of our employees’ health insurance, so this is saving us a significant amount, but it is also trickling down to our employees and providing them with a more affordable premium for better coverage.”

Existing Indiana Farm Bureau members may apply for INFB Health Plans at any time; however, membership is required prior to applying for coverage and individuals must be a member of INFB for at least 30 days to apply for a traditional health plan or a dental and vision plan. Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans do not require the 30-day waiting period. Coverage is statewide and plans are portable anywhere a member may live in Indiana, with no defined service area.

INFB Health Plans are an option for small businesses with 50 employees or less looking to provide reliable, quality health care to their employees.

“I would recommend INFB Health Plans to a small business looking for good coverage for their employees,” Haan said.

“The customer service we received through our Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance agent was great and the plans are very cost-effective.”

In addition to helping small businesses, INFB Health Plans offer traditional health plans for individuals and families, dental and vision plans, and Medicare Supplement Insurance plans as an INFB member benefit.

The plans offer a wide availability of nationwide in-network providers via UnitedHealthcare.

On average, a plan offered through INFB Health Plans can provide savings of 25% to 50% for families when compared to Affordable Care Act plans that aren’t subsidized by the federal government.

The fourth quarter of each year is open enrollment time for most employers and Affordable Care Act plans. Existing INFB members may apply for and receive coverage through INFB Health Plans anytime during the year, but Q4 is a good time for them to assess their health-care options.

“As individuals and families evaluate their health benefits, they are seeing premium increases across the board,” said Steve Allen, INFB Health Plans manager.

“INFB Health Plans are an affordable option not only for farmers and agriculture professionals, but also for folks outside of the agriculture space who are looking for an additional option to the current health care marketplace for themselves, their dependents or their small business.”
