20 under 40 nominations open

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Illinois Soybean Association, together with Illinois’ other commodity and agriculture organizations, is once again calling for nominations to the Illinois 20 Under 40 Awards.

The program recognizes Illinois’ top young farmers for their accomplishments in the agriculture industry and beyond.

“Illinois is home to some of the best and brightest young farmers in the nation — young farmers who not only are utilizing cutting-edge technology and implementing new environmental stewardship practices, but also farmers who are also fiercely committed to their local communities and volunteer organizations,” said Ron Kindred, farmer and ISA board chairman.

“Now in its third year, the 20 Under 40 awards showcase 20 of our young farmers under the age of 40 who are going above and beyond in all aspects of their lives.”

The program is administered with help from the Illinois Pork Producers Association, Illinois Beef Association, Midwest Dairy, Illinois Corn Marketing Board, Grain and Feed Association of Illinois, Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association and Illinois Farm Bureau. The program is sponsored by John Deere and is open to farmers of all commodities and farm sizes as long as applicants actively farm and live in the state of Illinois.

“Ideal candidates for the 20 Under 40 Awards are agricultural leaders and exceptional community citizens, as well as role models for their generation and the next,” Kindred said.

“Given the farmers we’ve had the pleasure of recognizing in the first two years of the program, we’re excited to see what this year brings and applaud another class of exceptional young farmers.”
