Medicare Supplements can help fill coverage gaps

In addition to Traditional Health Plans, dental and vision coverage, Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans offers Medicare Insurance Supplements Plans.

Medicare Supplements, or Medigap, are designed to help fill in gaps in Medicare coverage. Medicare Supplements help cover costs such as copayments, coinsurance and deductibles, which are out-of-pocket expenses that original Medicare doesn’t cover.

“To help members cover the costs associated with coverage gaps, INFB Health Plans offers four government-approved levels of coverage at affordable rates,” said Patrick Williams, INFB Health Plans manager. “In addition to offering the plans at a competitive rate, what will set us apart from other providers is our customer service. We pride ourselves on being a resource and meeting the individual needs of our members.”

INFB Health Plans’ Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans are available to members 65 years of age or older and include Plan A, Plan D, Plan G and Plan N.

Among the basic benefits included in all the Medicare Supplement plans are hospitalization copayments, medical expenses, Medicare preventative care and hospice coinsurance.

Because members have different needs, circumstances and budgets, additional coverage options are available and vary based on each plan.

• Plan A — includes basic coverage only, for those who feel financially able to handle both Medicare Part A and Part B deductibles.

• Part B — includes basic coverage and 100% of Medicare Part A deductible, nursing facility coinsurance and foreign travel emergency services.

• Plan G — includes basic coverage and 100% of Medicare Part A deductible, nursing facility coinsurance, foreign travel emergency services and 100% of Medicare Part B excess charges.

• Plan N — includes basic coverage and 50% of Medicare Part A deductible, nursing facility coinsurance, foreign travel emergency services and 100% of Medicare Part B excess charges.

Since Medicare Supplement plans work alongside Medicare Part A and B, members must be enrolled in Part A or B before they are eligible to apply for supplemental coverage.

Medicare Supplements do not have networks. Members will have the freedom to use any doctor, healthcare provider and hospital that accepts original Medicare.

Applicants must be members of INFB in order to apply for Medicare Supplements under Indiana Farm Bureau Health Plans. Unlike Traditional Health Plans, Medicare Supplements do not require the 30-day waiting period.
