From the Fields: Bitter season for sweet corn

The rain shut off for a bit and it got really hot, which I think is where the pollination issues came in with the sweet corn.

We’ve had plenty of rain, but not as much as some areas. Our fields are pretty well drained. Every field has some drowned-out spots, but for the most part we’re sitting pretty decent.

At least we haven’t had any drought scares. The last two years we got to the point where we needed the rain or we would have been hurting. Then we got a rain and it ended up being OK.

Rain now at the very least will knock the leaves off the beans which are turning. I will still take the rain for the soil. We can definitely use the rain.
