WinField United updates BioVerified designation with newly added biologicals

The new Winfield United Bioverified designation brings added clarity to biologicals market.

ELDORA, Iowa — Last season, WinField United launched the BioVerified designation, a vetting process that has become a trusted resource for ag retailers and growers in providing a valuable reference point when selecting biologicals.

Now, as the biologicals landscape continues to evolve and grow, the BioVerified designation is getting its first major update to include new products that better meet criteria.

The BioVerified designation covers the biological products WinField United recommends based on a thorough vetting process, including biocontrols, biostimulants, living biologicals and biochemicals. The newly updated list includes 12 total products, including four new additions:

• Trurow Attack plant growth regulator — a plant growth regulator and yield stimulant that helps increase available sugar and seed size for higher yield potential in corn and soybeans.

• DASH PBC for corn and DASH PBS seed treatments for soybeans — planter box seed treatments that provide seed lubrication and help support germination, early plant vigor and microbial nutrient release for enhanced yield potential.

• Ascend ST3 plant growth regulator — an auxin-dominant three-way PGR mixture for use as a seed treatment to help mitigate early season stress and maximize yield potential by delivering the right amount of PGRs at the right time.

“Each of these new additions to the BioVerified designation were evaluated by our agronomy and research teams using four key criteria: uniqueness, agronomics, operational alignment and economics,” said Jeff Carr, strategic marketing manager for biologicals at WinField United.

“The scores are compiled and competing or similar products are rated to determine which receives the designation — and it’s unique in that we don’t just test our own products, but products from across the market.”

Data on new products being evaluated can come from a combination of sources, including the WinField United Answer Plot field testing system and the Innovation Center in River Falls in western Wisconsin, where 3D imaging equipment is used to help identify product impacts faster in a controlled environment.

Data can also come from reviewing comprehensive testing and research results from a third-party vendor or product supplier.

Carr said the goal of every BioVerified update is to provide partners with the most current information heading into the season so they can make the most informed decisions.

“We’ve gotten positive feedback from both retailers and growers about how the list has helped them feel more confident in recommending and using biologicals,” he said.

“It makes a big difference when they know we stand behind these products, so they don’t have to spend their limited seasons trying to sort out what works and what doesn’t on their own.”
