Multiple seed treatment modes in one jug

Farm Progress Show

DECATUR, Ill. — Registration is anticipated for a new cereal seed treatment package with two modes of action.

Syngenta’s new CruiserMaxx Vibrance Elite seed treatment premix combination of Vayantis and Maxim that will provide protection from early-season insects and diseases.

Vayantis seed treatment provides protection in high pressure pythium situations, including mefenoxam and ethaboxam-resistant isolates.

Maxim 4FS seed treatment offers protection from a broad spectrum of diseases, including seed decay, seedling blight and snow mold.

Vibrance also includes a one fluid ounce per hundredweight of Cruiser 5FS seed treatment and the Cruiser vigor effect for protection from early-season foliar and below-ground insects.

“CruiserMaxx Vibrance Elite seed treatment brings together a combination of fungicides and insecticides,” said Neil Glynn, Syngenta Seed Care technical product lead. “The value of this with Vayantis is overcoming mefenoxam- and metalaxyl-resistant pythium.

“Maxim is really effective on seed-borne disease. So, years when we have high fusarium head blight pressure that will affect seed quality, with Maxim we can overcome that seed-borne infection.

“The higher rate of Cruiser (one ounce versus the quarter-ounce previous rate) is really valuable. We know folks have spiked in additional insecticide rates to overcome aphid issues. They won’t need to do that now because it’s all combined into this product.”

Early Protection

Glynn added that with earlier plantings and later harvested crops, it’s important to have the best protection possible with a seed treatment in the plant’s early stages of development.

“Try and preserve germination, crop emergence and develop stands that deliver the highest possible genetic potentials,” he said.

“The combination of fungicides are going to put the best foot forward in terms of protection, particularly with that higher rate of insecticide to provide aphid protection going into the winter, and that’s a really good protection against barley yellow dwarf virus that is primarily transmitted by aphids.”

Federal registration for CruiserMaxx Vibrance Elite is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
