JEFFERSONVILLE, Ohio — James Jacobs, sales manager, announced the winners of Seed Genetics Direct’s 2025 Wheat Yield Contest.
• First place — credit on $2,500 of seed from Seed Genetics Direct and $2,500 of herbicides and fungicides from Herbicides Direct: N.S. Farm Services, Nathan and Steve Birkemeier, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, with AGI 114, yielding 131.9 bushels per acre and a test weight of 58.7 pounds per acre.
• Second place — credit on $1,500 of seed from Seed Genetics Direct and $1,500 of herbicides and fungicides from Herbicides Direct: Davis Seed Farms, Kannon Jones, of Greens Fork, Indiana, with AGI 114, yielding 116.2 bushels per acre and a test weight of 59 pounds per acre.
• Third place — credit on $1,000 of seed from Seed Genetics Direct and $1,000 of herbicides and fungicides from Herbicides Direct: Randy Leib, of Prospect, Ohio, with AGI 217B, yielding 116 bushels per acre and a test weight of 59.1 pounds per acre.
Jacobs said entries averaged 110.5 bushels per acre, with an average test weight of 58.7 pounds per acre.
“While entries were off a little from previous years due to the excessive rainfall prior and during harvest, Seed Genetics Direct is very proud of its participants and entries — and with wheat sales up, we anticipate more entries in 2026,” he said.
