From the Fields: Break in the heat

Lea Henert explains to her boys, Roy and Wilson, the growth stages of the soybean plant and shows them the defoliation Japanese beetles are doing to the plant.

That was a pretty hot stretch of weather we had for two weeks. The roots of the commercial corn must be really good because it hasn’t shown any signs of stress, so with the planting date, the root size probably helped.

It will be nice to get a break in the heat. It looks like it’s going to be a good pollination window.
