Daily seminars at Fort Wayne Farm Show

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Fort Wayne Farm Show, to be presented Jan. 13-15 by Tradexpos at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, will feature daily educational seminars provided by Purdue Extension and the Allen County Soil and Water Conservation District.

All events will take place in Appleseed Room A, except for the luncheon program at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Appleseed Room B. Only 150 meals will be available for the luncheon, and they will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tuesday, January 13

Moderator: Elysia Rodgers

• 10 a.m.: “Market and Weather Outlooks” by Rob Winters, David Kohli, Jon Cavanaugh and Ryan Martin.

• Noon: “Barnyard Mirror: How Animals Reflect Our Own Health” by Elysia Rodgers, Purdue Extension educator.

• 2 p.m.: “Pesticide Applicator and Anhydrous Ammonia Safety” by Office of the Indiana State Chemist and Ann Kline and James Wolff, Purdue Extension educators. Indiana PARP and CCH credits available. PARP credits sponsored by Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Indiana Soybean Alliance.

Wednesday, January 14

Moderator: Bill Horan

• 10 a.m.: “Purdue Market Outlook” by Michael Langemeier, director of the Center for Commercial Agriculture at Purdue University.

• 11:30 a.m.: “Waters of the U.S.” luncheon program in Appleseed Room B by Brianna Schroeder, partner, Janzen Schroeder Ag Law. Sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau and Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley County Farm Bureaus. Lunch is limited seating and first come, first served.

• 2 p.m.: “Biosecurity Essentials for Livestock Owners” by Jennifer Strasser, field veterinarian with the Indiana State Board of Animal Health.

• 5:30 p.m.: “Code Red: A Practical Tool for Your Family and Farm Contingency Plan” by Purdue EDGE in Ag Team.

Thursday, January 15

Moderator: James Wolff

• 10 a.m.: “Pesticide Exam Training” by James Wolff, Ann Kline and Brad Kohlhagen, Purdue Extension educators. This session will prepare pesticide applicators for the Core pesticide applicator test. It will utilize the Indiana Pesticide Applicator Core Training Manual. Manuals can be purchased through Purdue Extension the day of the program or at https://edustore.purdue.edu/ppp-c.html. Tests will not be given at this training. No PARP or CCH credits available.
