INDIANAPOLIS — It’s been one year since milk was named the official beverage of high school athletics in Indiana.
During that time, 23 state championship teams across the state celebrated their victories with a combined 95 bottles of milk.
American Dairy Association Indiana and the Indiana High School Athletic Association partnered to make the program possible.
“Milk is a science-backed way to refuel, build muscle, hydrate and strengthen bones, making it the perfect choice for athletes to use to recover and gain a competitive edge in their sport,” said Jenni Browning, CEO at ADAI.
“We are proud to partner with IHSAA to bring education and nutrition to students across Indiana, while also supporting our state’s dairy farmers.”
The organizations say milk is a natural choice for student-athletes, as it provides 13 essential nutrients including calcium, vitamin D, protein, carbohydrates and electrolytes that support active bodies.
The partnership will continue in 2027.
