INDIANAPOLIS — American Dairy Association Indiana Inc. hosted the 52nd Rookie Celebration on May 19 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, celebrating this year’s rookie drivers for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500.
“Few traditions are as iconic as the winners drinking milk at the Indy 500, and we’re proud to help celebrate a moment that means so much to race fans across Indiana and around the world,” said Jenni Browning, CEO of ADAI.
“It’s also an incredible opportunity to recognize Indiana dairy farmers, whose dedication fuels a vibrant industry in our state. We’re excited to toast to a safe race, an enthusiastic crowd and a memorable day at the track.”
This year’s fastest rookie was Mick Schumacher, who was set to start 27th in the No. 47 Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. He had an average four-lap qualifying speed of 229.450 mph.
The rookie class also included: Dennis Hauger, starting 29th in the No. 19 car for Dale Coyne Racing; Jacob Abel, starting 30th in the No. 51 for Abel Motorsports; and Caio Collet, starting 32nd in the No. 4 for A.J. Foyt Racing.
This year’s signature Indiana State Fair milkshake and grilled cheese were announced at the event.
Fairgoers can look forward to a blue raspberry milkshake and “The Big Dill” — a Havarti and cheddar cheese sandwich with sliced dill pickles on buttered sourdough bread.
Check out the signature dishes Aug. 7-23 at the Dairy Bar at the State Fair, with the fair closed on Mondays.
