Connecting animal owners with veterinary care

New vet practice finder tool launched

Kyle Shipman

INDIANAPOLIS — A new website called “Find-a-Vet” makes it easy for Indiana animal owners to find veterinarians in their area who are accepting new clients.

The ad-free website allows users to search for veterinary services by species, location, specialty and more.

“We know the search tool will not solve all the shortfalls we hear about,” said Indiana State Veterinarian Kyle Shipman.

“Our goal is to help where we can to match up veterinary practices with capacity for new clients with those who need their services. Many times smaller clinics are not well known outside their immediate communities, so an animal owner may not be aware that a veterinarian is available in the next town or county away.”

Indiana Center for Animal Policy has launched the Indiana veterinary practice finder, Find-a-Vet.

Information in Find-a-Vet is provided by Indiana-licensed practices that voluntarily opt-in and are accepting new clients. Veterinary practices do not pay for the service, nor do the clients.

“More than 200 practices registered with Find-a-Vet, and we continue to reach out to our veterinary colleagues, encouraging them to join as we expand this service,” Shipman said.
