MILLEDGEVILLE, Ill. — A free concert, featuring Cherry Pie and Burn N’ Bush, will be the highlight at the Grandstand Track on Aug. 7 during the Carroll County Fair.
Cherry Pie, a Wisconsin-based band that is known for family-friendly performances, is set to hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. The band, which has been together for over 25 years, will deliver an ‘80s hair metal experience to the audience.
The acoustic duo of Dave Bushman and Rod Burnette of Burn N’ Bush will open the show at 6 p.m. Their interactive show makes them a crowd favorite at festivals and community events.
On the first two nights of the fair, free truck and tractor pulls are planned at the grandstand. On Aug. 4, Tri-County Pullers and the Illini State Pull will begin at 6:30 p.m. The following night, the Badger State Tractor Pull will also begin at 6:30 p.m.
Grandstand admission is also free for the T&A Bucking Bulls with barrel racing, bronc riding and steer roping event at 7 p.m. on Aug. 6.
The Demolition Derby will be the final event at the Grandstand for the fair, set to kick off at 6 p.m., on Saturday. Reserved grandstand seating is $10 per person.
It will be presented by Robbo’s Extreme Derby Promotions and will feature several classes including Pro Stock Compacts, Bone Stock Compacts, Light Weld Full Size and Mini Van.
New this year is the Youth Bone Stock Class for 12 to 16 year olds with a passenger. This is set to start at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Along with the carnival every day, several special events are planned for the kids including the Power Big Wheel Races at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday on the track in front of the grandstand. Kids should bring their own Power Wheels and there is no entry fee.
Kids are also invited to bring their bicycle to compete in the Bicycle Races at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Open to kids from 2 to 16 years old, the races are sponsored by the Carroll County Fair and Milledgeville State Bank.
Prizes for kids in each class will be awarded including: first place, $10; second place, $8; third place, $5; fourth place, $3; and fifth place $2.
At the Hospitality Tent, the Kiddie Tractor Pull is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday. Open to boys and girls weighing from 10 to 80 pounds, trophies will be awarded to the longest distance in each of the three weight classes.
Rain or shine, the Ninja Farmer event in front of the Grandstand is set for 11 a.m. on Aug. 8. Participation is free for this timed event. Prizes will be awarded to each of the four divisions and everyone who participates will receive ice cream.
Daily admission to the fair is $10 and children 7 years and under are free. Season wristbands cost $30, exhibitor wristbands are $20 and junior exhibitor wristbands are $5.
