Action-packed events planned for 123rd Will County Fair

PEOTONE, Ill. — Two nights of Demo Derby excitement are planned at the Grandstand during the 123rd Will County Fair, Aug. 26-30.

Four classes of competition are set for both Friday and Saturday nights. On Friday, starting at 7 p.m., the classes will include Bump and Go 4 & 6 Cylinder Cars, Full-Size Trucks, MWFA Street Stock Challenge and Young Guns and Powder Puff.

The following evening, the derby will start at 6:30 p.m. and will feature 4 & 6 Cylinder, Old Iron, Mini Van/SUV/Mini Truck and Full Size Passenger Stock.

Additional Grandstand events include the ITPA Tractor Pull at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 and the IPRA World Championship Rodeo at 2 p.m. on Aug. 30.

Opening day of the fair, Wednesday, is “Dollar Day.” General admission is $1 and all carnival rides are $1 each.

“Barn in the U.S.A” is the theme for the coloring contest this year. Prizes will be awarded for each grade, pre-K through fourth grade.

Winners of the coloring contest will be announced during the Ping Pong Drop on Aug. 26 at the Grandstand, starting at 6 p.m. The coloring sheets will be on display in the South Atrium Building during the fair.

Ride-A-Thon Night for the carnival is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday. Everyone can ride as often as they like with a $35 wristband.

Music will be featured at the Beer Pavilion on several nights of the fair. The pavilion opens at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and at noon on the remaining days.

Bands scheduled for the fair include Smokin Gunz on Thursday, 4Cast on Friday and Party Foul on Saturday.

General admission to the fair is $5 before 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and seniors and veterans are $5 admission all day on Thursday.

General admission is $8 after 5 p.m. and all day on Saturday and Sunday. Children 9 and under are free every day.
