INDIANAPOLIS — A 1,700-pound cheddar cheese sculpture was unveiled at the Indiana State Fair Aug. 10.
Nearly a ton of Indiana-made cheese was used by renowned cheese carver Sarah Kaufmann to create the race car-themed sculpture. The carving is sponsored by American Dairy Association Indiana, a statewide organization that represents Indiana’s 750 dairy farm families.
Carved into the cheese are depictions of Team Penske driver Josef Newgarden, and Hoosier dairy farmers Kerry Estes and Janet Dague.
At the end of the fair, the cheese will be recycled into green energy through a digester.
