Indiana crop progress for week ending Sept. 27

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 4% very short, 20% short, 67% adequate, and 9% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 6% very short, 22% short, 66% adequate, and 6% surplus.

Corn dented reached 95%, compared to 94% last year, and the five-year average of 96%. Corn mature reached 62%, compared to 66% last year, and the five-year average of 66%. Corn harvested reached 13%, compared to 15% last year, and the five-year average of 14%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 29% fair, 53% good, and 8% excellent.

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 74%, compared to 79% last year, and the five-year average of 77%. Soybeans harvested reached 14%, compared to 22% last year, and the five-year average of 16%. Soybean condition was rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 28% fair, 53% good, and 9% excellent.

Winter wheat planted reached 7%, compared to 9% last year, and the five-year average of 10%.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 33% fair, 51% good, and 5% excellent.
