Illinois crop progress for week ending Sept. 13

There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois for the week ending Sept. 13, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 11% very short, 29% short, 58% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 11% very short, 32% short, 56% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Corn dented reached 88%, compared to 92% last year, and the five-year average of 87%. Corn mature reached 50%, compared to 47% last year, and the five-year average of 46%. Corn harvested reached 8%, compared to 5% last year, and the five-year average of 4%. Corn condition was rated 4% very poor, 9% poor, 29% fair, 44% good, and 14% excellent.

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 46%, compared to 57% last year, and the five-year average of 43%. Soybeans harvested reached 4%, compared to 3% last year, and the five-year average of 2%. Soybean condition was rated 5% very poor, 8% poor, 30% fair, 43% good, and 14% excellent.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 6% very poor, 12% poor, 42% fair, 37% good, and 3% excellent.
