Illinois crop progress for week ending July 26

There were 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois for the week ending July 26, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 6% very short, 23% short, 61% adequate, and 10% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 7% very short, 20% short, 63% adequate, and 10% surplus.

Corn silking reached 86%, compared to 90% last year, and the five-year average of 88%. Corn dough reached 30%, compared to 32% last year, and the five-year average of 26%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 10% poor, 28% fair, 46% good, and 13% excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 81%, compared to 79% last year, and the five-year average of 77%. Soybeans setting pods reached 50%, compared to 47% last year, and the five-year average of 43%. Soybean condition was rated 4% very poor, 9% poor, 30% fair, 46% good, and 11% excellent.

Winter wheat harvested reached 98%, compared to 99% last year, and the five-year average of 99%.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 3% very poor, 6% poor, 35% fair, 43% good, and 13% excellent.
