Indiana crop progress for week ending July 19

There were 5.8 days suitable for fieldwork in Indiana for the week ending July 19, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 4% very short, 17% short, 71% adequate, and 8% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 4% very short, 17% short, 70% adequate, and 9% surplus.

Corn silking reached 53%, compared to 52% last year, and the five-year average of 54%. Corn dough reached 4%, compared to 8% last year, and the five-year average of 8%. Corn condition was rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 28% fair, 55% good, and 20% excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 55%, compared to 54% last year, and the five-year average of 55%. Soybeans setting pods reached 24%, compared to 23% last year, and the five-year average of 21%. Soybean condition was rated 3% very poor, 6% poor, 28% fair, 55% good, and 8% excellent.

Winter wheat harvested reached 95%, compared to 90% last year, and the five-year average of 93%.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 26% fair, 59% good, and 7% excellent.
