Illinois crop progress for week ending July 19

There were 5.8 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois for the week ending July 19, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 5% very short, 20% short, 64% adequate, and 11% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 5% very short, 16% short, 69% adequate, and 10% surplus.

Corn silking reached 69%, compared to 74% last year, and the five-year average of 74%. Corn dough reached 18%, compared to 14% last year, and the five-year average of 12%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 10% poor, 27% fair, 47% good, and 13% excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 66%, compared to 66% last year, and the five-year average of 65%. Soybeans setting pods reached 37%, compared to 27% last year, and the five-year average of 25%. Soybean condition was rated 3% very poor, 9% poor, 29% fair, 47% good, and 12% excellent.

Winter wheat harvested reached 95%, compared to 97% last year, and the five-year average of 97%.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 3% very poor, 6% poor, 29% fair, 48% good, and 14% excellent.
