Calendar: Know your numbers, know your options

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The online program Know Your Numbers, Know Your Options will begin 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 18.

Each week, participants will connect with farm finance experts and fellow producers to discuss recordkeeping, interpreting financial results, and exploring options for success.

Topics will include Goals and Recordkeeping, Nov. 18; Cash Flow Documents and Income Statements, Nov. 25; Ratios, Land Leases and Negotiations, Dec.2; and Tying it all Together and Looking at the Future, Dec. 9.

Comfort Food Makeover

EL PASO, Ill. — Two programs — Comfort Food Makeover, and Holiday Survival: Finding Calm in the Chaos — will be be presented from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the El Paso District Library, 149 W. 1st St., El Paso.

Extension Educator Jenna Smith will show participants how to enjoy favorite holiday dishes with a healthy twist through a live cooking demonstration. Then, Extension Educator Sara Attig will discuss simple, practical ways to reduce stress and bring more peace and presence to celebrations.

Barn Quilt Workshop

SALEM, Ind. — The four-part Barn Quilt Creation Workshop will begin 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET Nov. 10 at the Washington County Government Building, 806 Martinsburg Road, Salem.

Therapy Dog Workshop

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Unlimited Pawsibilities Dog Club is hosting a 4-H Therapy Dog Workshop from 6 to 7 p.m. ET Nov. 10 at Allen County Extension, 4001 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne.

Therapy dog teams from Three Rivers Visiting Dogs will demonstrate what it takes to be a therapy dog and the services their teams provide to the community.

Running for Office

VALPARAISO, Ind. — The program Local Government Leadership: Running for Office will be 6 to 8 p.m. CT Nov. 12 at the Porter County Administrative Building, 155 Indiana Ave., Valparaiso.

Have you ever considered running for a local government office? Join Purdue Extension and the Porter County clerk’s office to learn more about the process for running for local office, requirements and positions up for election in 2026.

This program is conducted in collaboration with the county clerk, local political parties and other current elected officials to create a community of local political knowledge and participation.

Growing Garlic

BELVIDERE, Ill. — The program Growing Garlic will be 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Ida Public Library, 320 N. State St., Belvidere.

Garlic is grown from individual cloves, not seeds. Each clove becomes a full bulb. Fall planting yields larger bulbs. Spring planting is possible, but results in smaller bulbs.
