There were 5.0 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Sept. 28, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 24% very short, 42% short, and 34% adequate. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 26% very short, 43% short, 30% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Corn dented reached 95%, compared to 99% last year, and the five-year average of 97%. Corn mature reached 68%, compared to 79% last year, and the five-year average of 68%. Corn harvested reached 16%, compared to 19% last year, and the five-year average of 14%. Corn condition was rated 5% very poor, 9% poor, 29% fair, 48% good, and 9% excellent.

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 81%, compared to 84% last year, and the five-year average of 79%. Soybeans harvested reached 24%, compared to 22% last year, and the five-year average of 16%. Soybeans condition was rated 4% very poor, 9% poor, 29% fair, 49% good, and 9% excellent.
