There were 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Sept. 28, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 32% very short, 43% short, and 25% adequate. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 35% very short, 43% short, and 22% adequate.

Corn dented reached 98%, compared to 99% last year, and the five-year average of 95%. Corn mature reached 85%, compared to 83% last year, and the five-year average of 77%. Corn harvested reached 21%, compared to 20% last year, and the five-year average of 18%. Corn condition was rated 6% very poor, 10% poor, 27% fair, 46% good, and 11% excellent.

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 89%, compared to 85% last year, and the five-year average of 76%. Soybeans harvested reached 21%, compared to 23% last year, and the five-year average of 14%. Soybeans condition was rated 8% very poor, 14% poor, 26% fair, 42% good, and 10% excellent.
