There were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Sept. 21, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 31% very short, 45% short, and 24% adequate. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 29% very short, 45% short, and 26% adequate.

Corn dented reached 91%, compared to 94% last year, and the five-year average of 92%. Corn mature reached 54%, compared to 64% last year, and the five-year average of 51%. Corn harvested reached 10%, compared to 11% last year, and the five-year average of 7%. Corn condition was rated 5% very poor, 9% poor, 30% fair, 48% good, and 8% excellent.

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 69%, compared to 69% last year, and the five-year average of 62%. Soybeans harvested reached 12%, compared to 15% last year, and the five-year average of 7%. Soybeans condition was rated 4% very poor, 9% poor, 31% fair, 47% good, and 9% excellent.
