There were 6.4 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Sept. 21, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 35% very short, 44% short, 20% adequate, and 1% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 32% very short, 44% short, and 24% adequate.

Corn dented reached 96%, compared to 96% last year, and the five-year average of 93%. Corn mature reached 69%, compared to 71% last year, and the five-year average of 63%. Corn harvested reached 12%, compared to 13% last year, and the five-year average of 9%. Corn condition was rated 8% very poor, 9% poor, 27% fair, 42% good, and 14% excellent.

Soybeans dropping leaves reached 77%, compared to 75% last year, and the five-year average of 61%. Soybeans harvested reached 9%, compared to 14% last year, and the five-year average of 5%. Soybeans condition was rated 11% very poor, 13% poor, 24% fair, 40% good, and 12% excellent.
