There were 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Sept. 7, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 21% very short, 40% short, and 39% adequate. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 21% very short, 32% short, and 47% adequate.

Corn dough reached 98%, compared to 97% last year, and the five-year average of 95%. Corn dented reached 87%, compared to 80% last year, and the five-year average of 80%. Corn mature reached 27%, compared to 38% last year, and the five-year average of 28%. Corn harvested reached 2%, compared to 2% last year, and the five-year average of 1%. Corn condition was rated 8% very poor, 9% poor, 30% fair, 41% good, and 12% excellent.

Soybeans setting pods reached 97%, compared to 98% last year, and the five-year average of 95%. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 36%, compared to 32% last year, and the five-year average of 16%. Soybeans condition was rated 8% very poor, 12% poor, 26% fair, 43% good, and 11% excellent.
