There were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Aug. 31, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 16% very short, 41% short, 41% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 17% very short, 37% short, 44% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Corn dough reached 90%, compared to 88% last year, and the five-year average of 91%. Corn dented reached 47%, compared to 58% last year, and the five-year average of 52%. Corn mature reached 5%, compared to 11% last year, and the five-year average of 8%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 28% fair, 50% good, and 11% excellent.

Soybeans setting pods reached 94%, compared to 93% last year, and the five-year average of 93%. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 12%, compared to 14% last year, and the five-year average of 9%. Soybeans condition was rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 28% fair, 51% good, and 10% excellent.
