There were 6.9 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Aug. 31, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 21% very short, 33% short, 45% adequate, and 1% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 19% very short, 29% short, 51% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Corn dough reached 96%, compared to 95% last year, and the five-year average of 91%. Corn dented reached 72%, compared to 69% last year, and the five-year average of 65%. Corn mature reached 15%, compared to 22% last year, and the five-year average of 13%. Corn condition was rated 8% very poor, 9% poor, 28% fair, 43% good, and 12% excellent.

Soybeans setting pods reached 95%, compared to 96% last year, and the five-year average of 93%. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 16%, compared to 13% last year, and the five-year average of 5%. Soybeans condition was rated 9% very poor, 13% poor, 25% fair, 41% good, and 12% excellent.
