There were 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Aug. 24, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 11% very short, 35% short, 51% adequate, and 3% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 14% very short, 32% short, 52% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Corn dough reached 82%, compared to 82% last year, and the five-year average of 83%. Corn dented reached 34%, compared to 40% last year, and the five-year average of 34%. Corn mature reached 1%, compared to 3% last year, and the five-year average of 2%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 26% fair, 52% good, and 11% excellent.

Soybeans setting pods reached 89%, compared to 89% last year, and the five-year average of 88%. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 2%, compared to 6% last year, and the five-year average of 3%. Soybeans condition was rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 27% fair, 53% good, and 10% excellent.
