There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Aug. 24, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 17% very short, 26% short, 54% adequate, and 3% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 17% very short, 25% short, 56% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Corn dough reached 92%, compared to 91% last year, and the five-year average of 87%. Corn dented reached 59%, compared to 59% last year, and the five-year average of 50%. Corn mature reached 3%, compared to 9% last year, and the five-year average of 4%. Corn condition was rated 5% very poor, 9% poor, 25% fair, 45% good, and 16% excellent.

Soybeans setting pods reached 91%, compared to 92% last year, and the five-year average of 88%. Soybeans dropping leaves reached 2%, compared to 5% last year, and the five-year average of 1%. Soybeans condition was rated 5% very poor, 11% poor, 26% fair, 42% good, and 16% excellent.
