There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Aug. 17, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 10% very short, 32% short, 53% adequate, and 5% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 12% very short, 29% short, 55% adequate, and 4% surplus.

Corn silking reached 96%, compared to 97% last year, and the five-year average of 98%. Corn dough reached 69%, compared to 69% last year, and the five-year average of 70%. Corn dented reached 20%, compared to 23% last year, and the five-year average of 17%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 26% fair, 52% good, and 11% excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 95%, compared to 95% last year, and the five-year average of 95%. Soybeans setting pods reached 80%, compared to 81% last year, and the five-year average of 79%. Soybeans condition was rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 27% fair, 52% good, and 11% excellent.
