There were 4.9 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Aug. 3, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 5% very short 15% short, 68% adequate, and 12% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 7% very short, 16% short, 65% adequate, and 12% surplus.

Corn silking reached 87%, compared to 88% last year, and the five-year average of 90%. Corn dough reached 33%, compared to 38% last year, and the five-year average of 36%. Corn condition was rated 3% very poor, 8% poor, 27% fair, 51% good, and 11% excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 82%, compared to 85% last year, and the five-year average of 84%. Soybeans setting pods reached 55%, compared to 58% last year, and the five-year average of 54%. Soybeans condition was rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 27% fair, 53% good, and 10% excellent.

Winter wheat harvested reached 100%, compared to 100% last year, and the five-year average of 100%.
