There were 4.9 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Aug. 3, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 4% very short, 14% short, 66% adequate, and 16% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 6% very short, 16% short, 66% adequate, and 12% surplus.

Corn silking reached 96%, compared to 93% last year, and the five-year average of 95%. Corn dough reached 53%, compared to 53% last year, and the five-year average of 48%. Corn dented reached 1%, compared to 3% last year, and the five-year average of 2%. Corn condition was rated 4% very poor, 5% poor, 22% fair, 52% good, and 17% excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 88%, compared to 91% last year, and the five-year average of 87%. Soybeans setting pods reached 66%, compared to 74% last year, and the five-year average of 61%. Soybeans condition was rated 4% very poor, 7% poor, 26% fair, 48% good, and 15% excellent.

Winter wheat harvested reached 100%, compared to 100% last year, and the five-year average of 99%.
