There were 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending June 1, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service, Indiana Field Office.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 4% very short, 15% short, 67% adequate, and 14% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 6% very short, 17% short, 67% adequate, and 10% surplus.

Corn planted reached 86%, compared to 85% last year, and the five-year average of 90%. Corn emerged reached 70%, compared to 68% last year, and the five-year average of 73%. Corn condition was rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 24% fair, 60% good, and 10% excellent.

Soybeans planted reached 81%, compared to 79% last year, and the five-year average of 83%. Soybeans emerged reached 63%, compared to 61% last year, and the five-year average of 63%. Soybean condition was rated 2% very poor, 4% poor, 25% fair, 60% good, and 9% excellent.

Winter wheat headed reached 79%, compared to 91% last year, and the five-year average of 81%. Winter wheat condition was rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 22% fair, 61% good, and 13% excellent.
