Indiana crop progress for the week ending Nov. 10

There were 3.7 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Nov. 10, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service Indiana Field Office. Statewide, the average temperature was 56.5 degrees, 11.5 degrees above normal.

Precipitation averaged 1.84 inches, 1.02 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 21% very short, 39% short, 39% adequate, and 1% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 28% very short, 41% short, and 31% adequate.

Corn harvested reached 94%, compared to the five-year average of 81%. Soybeans harvested reached 96%, compared to the five-year average of 90%.

Winter wheat planted reached 92%, compared to the five-year average of 92%. Winter wheat emerged reached 71%, compared to the five-year average of 73%. Winter wheat condition was rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 32% fair, 50% good, and 12% excellent.
