Illinois crop progress for the week ending Nov. 10

There were 3.7 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending Nov. 10, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service Illinois Field Office. Statewide, the average temperature was 54.6 degrees, 10.2 degrees above normal.

Precipitation averaged 3.04 inches, 2.30 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 8% very short, 25% short, 59% adequate, and 8% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 8% very short, 43% short, 46% adequate, and 3% surplus.

Winter wheat planted reached 96%, compared to the five-year average of 93%. Winter wheat emerged reached 83%, compared to the five-year average of 75%. Winter wheat condition was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 23% fair, 70% good, and 4% excellent.
