Calendar: Christmas ornament workshop

OLNEY, Ill. — The Christmas Ornament Workshop will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Richland County Extension office, 306 S. Fair St., Olney.

De-stress, Rejuvenate

EVANSVILLE, ind. — Third- through 12th-graders can learn productive ways to de-stress and rejuvenate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT Dec. 19 at EVPL Central, Browning Room, 200 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Evansville.

The registration fee of $30 for 4-H members and $50 for nonmembers includes lunch and supplies.

Holiday Workshop

MILAN, Ill. — 4-H invites all youth to attend a hands-on workshop making holiday gifts and treats from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dec 19 at the Rock Island County Extension office, 321 2nd Ave. W, Milan.

Participants will make a magnetic frame, ornaments, a holiday wooden decoration, a bead bracelet, cards, decorate cookies, and more.

Cost is $5. Youth ages 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Equine Workshop

CORYDON, Ind. — The Equine Confirmation and Fault Workshop for third- through 12th-graders will be from 1 to 4 p.m ET Dec. 17 at Garrett’s Farm, 1356 Fogel Road, Corydon.

Students will learn how to evaluate horse structure and how it relates to soundness. Dress accordingly for this outdoor event.

Clothing Donations

CORYDON, Ind. — Men’s clothing donations will be accepted at the Harrison County Extension office, 47 Atwood St., Corydon, on behalf of the 4-H Fowl Play Club for the Hickory Treatment Center.

Clothing items needed include coats, jackets, shirts, pants, socks and shoes. Drop off your donations from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, through Dec. 19.

Holiday Cards

JERSEYVILLE, Ill. — Join local volunteer Sandy Bechtold to make creative holiday cards using iris paper folding techniques from 1 to 2 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Jersey County Extension office, 200 W. Exchange St., Jerseyville.

Hort for the Holidays

ELIZABETH, Ill. — Gather your friends for an afternoon of decorating fun as the University of Illinois Extension hosts Hort for the Holidays – Jo Daviess County Edition from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Jo Daviess County Extension office, 204 Vine St., Elizabeth.

Participants will complete two make-and-take projects: a mason jar oil candle and a holiday centerpiece using fresh flowers. Each of these projects will make beautiful standalone items to give or keep, but they also pair well together for a gorgeous holiday display for your dining table.

The mason jar oil candle is a combination of beautiful pinecones, evergreen sprigs, cinnamon sticks and essential oils — perfect for illuminating your home during the dark and cold winter months.

With the holiday centerpiece, participants will learn the basic elements of floral design and create a stunning centerpiece using fresh evergreens, fresh flowers, novelties, and ribbon.
