From the Fields: Crops now coming along well

Deidra Roell

It’s been a dry start to the season here until the past week. Planting has been very steady going with the dry weather down here.

We have seen some of the local farmers are having to replant due to frost damage. Overall, our crops are coming along well.

We are about 80% done planting. We are completely done planting in Washington County and just have to finish my husband’s family farm in Fayette County once the weather clears a little. We are pretty even split with corn and soybean acres this year.

Along with the normal goals of a successful growing season with minimal barriers and maximum profitability, I am really hoping for some stabilization in the commodity markets.

In addition, I’m hoping we get some good outcomes with the precision changes we made this year to help better prepare us for decisions to be made for next year.
